We build gardens with a wide range of natural and salvaged materials, and stone is principle among them. Especially in a region known for its steep topographies, massive stones can provide both a physical and metaphorical anchor in the landscape, propping up challenging slopes while helping the landscape tell a more subtle, geological story.
Another feature of our work is combining natural flagstone with upcycled bricks and tiles to create hardscapes with a timeless feel. Most often this mixing of materials comes about naturally, as clients have some existing materials that we rework into a new design, and supplement with other found and salvaged pieces.
We also specialize in custom architectural garden structures that bring details of the home architecture into the landscape. Offering shade, a bit of privacy, or support for a kiwi vine, garden structures are one of the main ways we create “living rooms”, enabling you to move seamlessly from indoors to outdoors without ever losing sight of home.
